In the past year, Free Trade Agreements (FTA) such as the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP),… have created favorable conditions for the development of Vietnamese wood processing and exporting industry, adding more advantages in accessing difficult markets, as well as increasing competition with many similar products of other countries.
Top Vietnam’s export market share of wood
The largest export market of wood and wood products is to the United States, reaching US$9.1 billion in 11 months of 2021, up 21.4% compared to 2020.
The Japanese market ranked second with 1.45 billion USD, up 6.7% compared to 2020. In which: wood material 710.6 million, up 9.8%; wood products 669.3 million USD, up 3.4%; non-timber forest products USD 6.8 million, up 8.7%.
China ranks third in Vietnam’s wooden furniture buying markets, with export turnover in 2021 to this market reaching US$1.5 billion, up 23.7% over the same period in 2020.
